Sustainability Report Analysis: Mulberry
Pioneering Women Series: Amplifying the work of women that work in sustainable luxury. We start the series with the recent Mulberry England Sustainability Report.
Mulberry have their work cut out for them during this period of change. They have a new CEO in Andrea Baldo ex Ganni A/S. Recently rejected a buy out offer of £83m by Frasers Group that was later increased to £111m. Previous CEO Glassdoor ratings were very low, trust to regain there. Andrea Baldo comes in with a commitment to build a regenerative and circular business in alignment with his career focus on responsible brands. This is critical for success to have buy in to sustainability from the top. The company's finances are precarious, current profit sits at -£34m.
This hasn't deterred the team in making moves in the sustainability space. What can we learn from them?
-Over 12,000 bags repaired and restored
-100% leather sourced from environmentally accredited tanneries
-Commissioned biodiversity assessments for two Somerset factory sites
-Hosted five international pre-loved pop ups
-Launched internal network of sustainability champions- Made to Last Ambassadors
Well done to Rosie Wollacott Phillips, Harriet Gardiner and Megan Ashcroft and the rest of the team.
